Château 18th with it's annexes, La Louise  -  Introduction

The Château history starts in the 12th Century with the Château from the Comte de Barcelona, given as a present in 1205 to Mr Robert Trencaval...one of the original owners of the Cité of Carcassonne...
The Château was in the same dominant situation as the actual Château in the village.

The existing Château was constructed in 1705 on the relics of the original.
Château...and together with it's annexes and outside spaces, it still has the” dominancy" of the village, now shared with the adjoining church with it's typical high tower. Two saints like guardians in front of the entrance.

An authentic image from the start of the last century shows the Château with it's original roughcast cement, and white shutters, the small glass windowpanes and the double wooden arched entrance door, the front courtyard with iron railings and gate together with the imposing stone pillars.

History and the tenants have changed...a new generation has installed itself, but this is not the case for the elements of this Château which is today, what it has always been, a very beautiful building that has kept it's beautiful original appearance and still confirms itself to be one of the "prevailing" features of the village.

The interior still shows itself in its original splendour but it has been entirely renovated and partially revised. Renovation with taste, love and respect for the grand past with a subtle melange of the contemporary and the ancient and of course the modern comfort that has been integrated.

On the premises there is also an orangery a gardienne’s house and the grand contemporary house, all with main work achieved, built on the relics of the old annexes that adjoin the garden of the Château and that complement it well
The name "La Louise" is honouring one of the historical owners of the Château that used to bare same name!
